  1. This is similar to 70% increase in rifle homicides after the lapse of the Assault Weapons Ban. Rifles have never made up a significant percentage of firearms homicides, typically less than 3%. So if rifle homicides accounted for 1.7% of homicides, and increase to 3% of homicides following the lapse of the AWB That would would show an 80% increase. A significant increase in an insignificant number does not automatically raise it to significance.

  2. The key takeaway from my previous comment is, You can flip the narrative by making a small increase look huge, for example, making a 1.3% number look like 80%, by simply reframing the narrative.
